AI Experts, Including Musk, Urge Caution in Rapid Tech Advancement

Prominent figures in the tech industry, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Tesla’s Elon Musk, have expressed their support for a proposal by Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei to decelerate the development of artificial intelligence. This call to action arises amidst increasing apprehension among researchers regarding the potential hazards of ever-more sophisticated AI systems. Amodei cautions that a rapid advancement in AI technology could pose significant safety threats, potentially leading to devastating outcomes such as massive cyberattacks and the disruption of critical internet infrastructure.

Elon Musk, reinforcing his long-held concerns about the threats posed by advanced AI, endorsed Amodei’s suggestion by stating, “Dario is right.” In alignment with these views, Sam Altman advocated for a collaborative approach where OpenAI would engage with independent evaluators.
