State of the Union: Trump Blames Iran for American Military Casualties

President Trump used his State of the Union Address to directly blame Iran for the deaths and injuries of thousands of American military personnel, accusing the regime and its proxy forces of targeting US troops across multiple theaters. The accusation was part of a broader indictment of the Iranian government that also included claims of mass killings of domestic protesters.
Trump called Iran the world’s foremost state sponsor of terrorism and said its influence has spread violence and instability far beyond the Middle East. He claimed Iranian-backed forces were directly responsible for American casualties and said the regime’s behavior has made it impossible to trust it with nuclear weapons.
On the weapons front, Trump said Iran is actively advancing its nuclear and missile programs despite last year’s Operation Midnight Hammer strikes, which he claimed had effectively destroyed the country’s nuclear capabilities. He expressed frustration that Iran has since tried to rebuild, saying it was warned explicitly not to do so.
The President described an expanding missile threat, with Iranian weapons already able to reach Europe and US bases in the region, and longer-range missiles in development that could target the United States directly. He said these developments are being closely tracked and factored into US military strategy.
Despite this confrontational backdrop, Trump said diplomacy remains his preferred path. He confirmed active negotiations are underway and said Iran wants a deal. His condition is simple: Tehran must publicly declare it will never pursue nuclear weapons. Until that declaration is made, he said, no agreement is possible — but the possibility remains open.
